Super Sunday

It was a huge weekend of sport around Australia over the weekend and the DWR team finished it off with a huge result at Caulfield on Sunday. We had a large number of runners saddled up throughout the day which ended in our second winning quintet on a feature Melbourne raceday in a matter of five weeks.

After an unlucky seventh placing at Flemington last start, Cliff’s Edge was quick to bounce back and salute for the first time this preparation when he produced a pleasing display in the Open 1400m Handicap. It was an exciting day for all his owners with their stallion on track for another crack at his first taste of Group 1 glory in a couple of weeks time.

It wasn't long before we were back in the winners stall, with the consistent Bondeiger making it a race-to-race double when he took out the $250,000 Listed Inglis Cup.

Grey Shadow proved the rise in grade was going to be no barrier as she took on the mares in the Benchmark 90 Handicap and prevailed by a length to make it back to back victories. It was another classy performance from the flashy grey who’s record stands at nine career starts for four wins and three seconds!

Following a somewhat below-par performance at his previous start at Flemington, Native Soldier showed his love for Caulfield and once again proved that he is a forced to be reckoned with when he produced another booming display. Lining up in the Group 3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude, he showed great improvement back around the bend to go on and salute by two lengths. It’s all systems go ahead of the big dance in just under two weeks’ time!

Our fifth and final winner for the day came from the extremely promising Furrion who continues to build quite the impressive record for himself. He dug deep to hold off his rivals on Sunday in what was the sixth win of his seven start career.

A big congratulations to everyone involved!
