Silentz Salutes and Chauffeur Drives Away With First-Up Win
Silentz continued on with his run of honest form of late with another solid performance at Flemington on Saturday.
Following a second placing in the Port Fairy Cup the five year old went one better at his next start when stepping out to the mile trip in an Open Handicap at Caulfield. Under a nice ride from Dean Yendall this past Saturday at headquarters he made it two in a row. He settled down just off the pace against the rail before turning for home full of running. When the gap appeared between the leading pair at the 300m mark, Silentz pushed through and drew a length clear for the seventh win of his career in the $125,000 event.
We finished off our Saturday at Flemington with a winning double after an impressive stable debut from the former Sydney galloper known as Chauffeur. Chauffeur based his first preparation with the stable down at the beach at our Warrnambool base where he really thrived in the environment. We headed into the event hoping to see him put in a competitive performance and he definitely did that! Lining up down the straight in the Open 1100m Handicap, he settled down beautifully towards the tail of the field before peeling to the outside rail where he unleashed a fantastic turn of foot to swoop home for an impressive 1.5 length victory.
