Weir Records Best Season Ever

Darren Weir sealed third position on the Australian Trainers Premiership when Angel Of Rock recorded the trainer his 174th winner for the season. Heading into the final day, Weir held a ½ win over high profile Sydney trainer Chris Waller, who was unable to add to his tally at Kembla Grange. It was easily Weiry’s best season – 34 city winners including 25 in Melbourne to finish 6th on the Melbourne Premiership. He also won his eighth straight Victorian Trainers Premiership, having 42 more winners than his nearest rival. Amongst the many highlights for the season was bringing Wealth Princess back from nearly two years off the track to win the Group 3 Glenlogan Park Stakes in Brisbane and stablemates Platelet and Royal Bender running the quinella in the Listed Sir John Monash Stakes at Caulfield.
