Warrnambool May Racing Carnival

The hype of another Warrnambool May Racing Carnival has been and gone but the excitement for the team has continued on after three very successful days. We had a big team of runners saddled up over the carnival and with 30 races being run over the three days, we proved victorious in 14 of them (including three features) – what an outstanding effort!

Our biggest achievement for the week came on the final day when High Church brought home our fourth Warrnambool Cup in a row with a brilliant victory in the listed event. He was allowed to find his feet after jumping away with Damian Lane in the saddle and settled down towards the rear of the field on the outside. Whilst travelling beautifully he got a nice cart into it before peeling off their backs into the straight and ‘sprouting wings’ down the outside fence, going on for an impressive six length victory over his nearest rival, with stablemate Unfurl running a nice third.

High Church followed in the footsteps of Akzar (2014), Tall Ship (2015) and Master of Arts (2016) to add to the stables milestone and make it four from four.

Congratulations to all the staff, jockeys and especially owners who all played their part to make it another great week at THE ‘BOOL!
