Via Savoia Scores A Hat-Trick Of Wins

Via Savoia has gone to the paddock for a well-earned spell after completing a hat-trick of wins over jumps at Pakenham last Tuesday. Having his 19th run and four jumping trials since starting his campaign over 12 months ago, the "iron horse" made his jumps debut on the first day of the Warrnambool carnival back in May. After a few runs over hurdles, he was switched to the bigger fences and following two placings, he finally broke his "duck" over jumps at Warrnambool on July 31 coming back to the smaller jumps and won a Maiden Hurdle. Trainer Darren Weir always thought he'd make a better 'chaser due to his terrific jumping ability, he went back to the fences and bolted in with a 0-120 Steeple again at the 'Bool on August 16. Via Savoia then made it three in a row with an easy win in an Open Steeple over 3800m at Pakenham last Tuesday. When he comes back into training "Weiry" plans to aim him at the famous Oakbank and Warrnambool Carnivals.
