Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad

Back in the late 70's, the American rock musician Meat Loaf had a hit "Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad." Well, one of Darren Weir's long and successful clients John Richards could now be singing the song's lyrics. In a space of four days, he had three runners for two winners and a third. Ava's Delight, a daughter of Artie Schiller proved too strong for her rivals in the 3YO Maiden at Donald. Richards is a very keen supporter of Artie Schiller, sending a number of his mares to the son of El Prado. When seeing Ava's Delight in the 2011 Inglis Autumn Sale, he was keen to buy her, paying $10,000 for her as a yearling. He then offered Meville Charles, who he raced Sublimity with, the opportunity to race the filly with him. The following day, Lake Sententia, which Richards brought for $30,000 in Tasmania, overcame greeness at only her second run to score at Swan Hill. Richards has always had a big opinion of the four-year-old but has had to be patient with her due to immaturity issues. The final runner of Richards' trio, El Divine, ran third at Sandown and will now be spelled. The son of Elvstroem which is a home bred had a very good preparation, winning three races including one in town.
