Stable Finishes Year With 10 Winners in Six Days

The Darren Weir stable farwelled 2011 in a blaze of glory with 10 winners in the final six days of the year. Mary's Cinder and Polymook started the winning run at the non-TAB meetings at Nhill and Penshurst on Boxing Day. On the following day at Mornington, promising four-year-old mare Spartini scored a fresh up win. The stable’s run continued at the mid-week meeting at "Weiry's'' home track of Ballarat. Rossa May overcame difficulties to open her account and the luckless What A Beauty gave her rivals a start and a beating. The debut runner Jedi Master and the grey Zoned In kept up the winning run at Echuca then the following day at Cranbourne the former Tasmanian Rock Jester having his first run for the stable stormed home under the guidance of Michelle Payne. On the final day of the year, Fitoussi scored his first win for over two years and gave Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock its fifth winner for the week when he oustayed his rivals at Morphettville. Derisive became winner 145 for 2011 when he fought back courageously after being headed in the straight to score at Bendigo.
