Music Shop Brings Up 100 Wins

In a season that is fast becoming Darren Weir’s best, he reached another milestone on the weekend when Music Shop won impressively at Caulfield on Saturday. He became the first trainer to train 100 winners in Victoria for the season, bringing it up with just over half the season gone. We look well on target to better our best ever season of 174 winners, which was achieved last season. Music Shop, a daughter of Mujahid who is raced by her breeder Tom & Iris Sutherland, is a credit to her trainers patience. Early in her career she was limited to the country areas around Victoria but has now graduated to the city, winning four metropolitan races and over $170,000 in prizemoney. Other highlights for the season include being joint leading trainer of the Melbourne Cup Carnival (equal with Peter Snowden from the powerful Darley stable) which included the impressive win of Puissance De Lune in the Group 3 Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
