Long Term Plan Pays Off

Puissance De Lune won the Bendigo Cup by a whopping 8 lengths yesterday in what was a 6 month plan derived by Weir & owner Gerry Ryan.

Bloodstock agent Robert Roulston purchased Puissance De Lune from an overseas interest for $100,000 for Ryan with the aim being the 2013 Melbourne Cup.

After his May win at the Warrnambool Carnival the prominent businessman asked darren to aim for the Bendigo Cup, which Ryan sponsors through his caravan company "Jayco"

Weir said, "Normally things don't go right, but today they did."

In his only ride for the day, Glen Boss positioned Puissance De Lune outside the leader and at the 600m mark he had his rivals covered, leaving them in his wake to go on and break the track record set by Midnight Tango in 2005.

Weir and Ryan agreed Puissance De Lune would probably head towards the 2500m Group 3 Queen Elizabeth Stakes on the final day of the Flemington Carnival.
