A long trek from Whyalla, 400km north-west of Adelaide, to Ballarat, proved fruitful for two of Keltara's owners, John and Lyn Harris. It was the first time they have been on course to see their daughter of Exceed & Excel win. They have a number of horses with Darren Dance's Australian Bloodstock Syndications. Due to a number of small issues, Keltara was having only her sixth run and her second after a 62 week break. Before Wednesday, her other win was at Geelong in August last year. Now her next start is likely to be at Caulfield on December 15.
