Gotta Keep Cool Passes $500,000 In Stakes

Rising eight-year-old Gotta Keep Cool past $500,000 in Stakesmoney when he continued his ‘love affair’ with Morphettville on Saturday, winning the opening race. Highlighted by a win over Zavite in the 2009 Hobart Cup, Gotta Keep Cool has now won 11 races for the Woods family. He has now had seven starts at Morphettville for five wins and two seconds. He will be given the chance to improve on this record when he returns to Morphettville in two weeks for the $50,000 Open Handicap over 2500m. His win was the first leg of a double for trainer Darren Weir and jockey Billy Egan. They combined later in the day to win with Midnight Glory. ‘Weiry’ has an unbelievable strike-rate in Adelaide this season, winning 20 races from 44 runners. Even more amazing is only 2 of the 44 runners he has saddled up haven’t ‘weighed in’.
