French Import Records First Aussie Win

French import Police Gazette recorded his first win in Australia when proving too strong for his opposition in a $30,000 Showcase over 2400m at Bendigo on Wednesday. Purchased last year by Terry Henderson’s & Simon O’Donnell’s OTI Thoroughbreds after winning a race at Deauville, the son of Giant’s Causeway was having his third start in Australia after 2nd placings at Warrnambool and Sandown. The well bred four-year-old is from a half sister to Dynaformer, sire of 2010 Melbourne Cup winner Americain. Police Gazette will now head back to Sandown for another race over 2400m before being put aside with an eye of a couple of rich staying races during the Autumn. Fellow French import Puissance De Lune, the current favourite for this year’s Melbourne Cup, has headed back to the Warrnambool stables of Darren Weir to begin his build up to November.
