Classy Mare Emulates Her Father

Back in the 2005/06 season, California Dane created an imposing record at Moonee Valley winning five races there including the Moir Stakes on Cox Plate Day. Years on his very classy daughter Lake Sententia is building her own record at the track – two starts for two wins over the Cox Plate distance of 2040m. On Cox Plate eve last year, she recorded her maiden city victory when winning by five lengths. She add to this on Wednesday when proving too strong for her opposition. It would be far to say the confidence of trainer Darren Weir improved when the transferred her race from a washed out Sandown on Saturday to Moonee Valley. The winner of six race from 12 starts and just shy of $300,000, Lake Sententia is now bound for Brisbane where she will contest the $200,000 Group 3 Tatts Cup over 2200m at Eagle Farm on June 22. Earlier in the day Truffle, which was also to have started at Sandown on Saturday, made it two city wins in a row, following a brilliant ride from apprentice Jake Duffy.
