Another BIG Day for Big Duke

Following his successful Tasmanian trip back in February which saw him take out the Group 3 $200,000 Launceston Cup in fine style, Big Duke returned to the beach with our eyes set on the Group 3 Manion Cup at Rosehill. Having done everything asked of him in the almost four weeks leading up to the race he made the journey to New South Wales where we expected another bold showing. Jumping from gate 6 with Craig Williams in the saddle, he took a sit off the speed with cover where he got into a nice rhythm. Travelling well into the straight he peeled off their backs and in a two horse war with Our Century on the inside, the pair fought hard in the heavy going but as the inside horse began to roll out into his path - Big Duke was nabbed on the line. However with a protest lodged, the stewards elected to rightfully reverse the results - adding a second black type victory in as many starts to Big Duke’s name as well as the team’s first winner in Sydney.
