Darren Weir brought up his 50th winner for the season when the very promising Hurdy Gurdy Man stormed home to win at Sandown on Wednesday. He's well on track for another 100 plus season – a feat he's achieved for the past six seasons. His best year was the 2005/06 when he recorded a staggering 127 winners. Following on from a Three-Year-Old Maiden win on his home track at Ballarat on December 12, Hurdy Gurdy Man has now had three starts for two wins and a third on debut. He is raced by his breeders, long-time stable clients Ed and Robyn Shakespeare. Earlier this season they had success at Sandown and Morphettville with another very promising three-year-old, Shiny And New.
