2012 - Very Successful Year

Some Target’s fast-finishing win at Echuca on New Year’s Eve rounded off a sensational 2012 for the Darren Weir stable – it recorded 191 winners for the calendar year. Among the many achievements was Weiry’s most successful spring where he had 52 winners from September 1 to November 30, 17 more than for the same period the previous year. The highlights include being joint leading trainer with Darley’s Peter Snowden for Melbourne Cup Carnival at Flemington with three winners along with Puissance De Lune’s ‘runaway’ wins in the Group 3 Queen Elizabeth Stakes and Listed Bendigo Cups, Lord Of Brazil taking out the Gold Nugget at Ballarat, the Kyneton Cup to Street Away and Clang And Bang emphatic win in the Ararat Cup. Other Country Cups secured by the stable for the year include the Casterton Cup with The Night’s Hot, the Heywood & Warracknabeal Cups with Shiny Buttons, the Mildura Cup with Lord Of Brazil and the Marong Cup with Keep Control.
