Group 2 Trifecta

Promising filly Amphitrite headlined another winning Saturday for the stable when she stepped out in the Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes at Flemington and showed her class again to make it three from three this preparation. Lining up over the mile, she jumped away from barrier eight with Craig Williams in the saddle. She settled down in a midfield position out three wide with cover where she got a nice cart into the straight before peeling off their backs and unleashing a big turn of foot to go on and salute by over a length for Flying Start Syndications and connections. She heads into the Group 1 on Saturday in red hot form! The race produced a great result for the stable with the ever-consistent, Group 1-bound Krone finishing second and former New Zealander, Verry Elleegant, making her Australian debut charging home for third.

Extra Brut continues to impress and was our other victor at headquarters when he took out the Listed UCI Stakes over 1800m. Once again partnered with Johnny Allen, he peeled out to the middle as they straightened up where he gradually built up the momentum to charge home over the final 200m and bound clear in the final stages saluting by over a length in what was his third win in as many starts.

The winning ways continued around the state and across the border. Tysonic broke her Maiden over stablemate Garbo who finished second in Tatura. This was followed by Misscino triumphing for her second career win in the Fillies and Mares Benchmark 58 Handicap.

Over at Morphettville we had three representatives in a small field of four with the race being fought out in exciting style by Snitzepeg and Calibration. The pair settled first and second in the little bunch before breaking clear at the top of the straight. Calibration tried hard on the rail but Snitzepeg eventually got the better of him to narrowly salute by a third on a length – nearly a further five lengths clear of stablemate Waking Moment who finished third.

Spring is well and truly here now and we hope the winning ways can continue as the carnival really gets underway.
