I can only say that if anyone had told me that at the age of 58 I would be the owner and riding a 6 year old off the track racehorse, I would have never believed them. Having had a life long association with horses, a love for the interaction and honesty they require. I found myself missing the routine, bond and affirming strength which comes with owning a horse of any shape or size.

Archibar

I remember driving to work and I couldn't stop thinking about this horse that Lee had advertised on her page . So I thought no time like the better so I pulled over and. Called her. So glad I did because I found my best buddy and that truly special horse. Archibar was a well seasoned race horse. So when he came to me I just let him chill out for a while and adjust to his new lifestyle.

September Morn

Now known as "Murphy" our little Irish horse, came to us in February 2015 clearly ready to retire from racing and start a new relaxed lifestyle.  After enjoying 4 months of rest and copious amount of 5 star feed he was ready to start his education.  The first ride with Maddy aboard was astounding, sitting nicely in the bridle and even yielding to leg pressure.  Looks like a lot of work had been done in the breaking in process as his work ethic was solid and sure.  His first show was August 2015 and from that point onward he improved  immensely , always trying his best to outwork more seasoned horses.

Life After Racing

Lee Purchase has spent the past 10 years working as part of Darren Weir’s team at Forest Lodge in Miners Rest near Ballarat. During this time the stable has grown from a 50 horse stable into the record breaking stable it is today. “As a lot of horses are owned by syndicates, but not every horse is lucky enough to have owners who are in a position to take the horses once they have been retired. Some owners who have their own property, or people they have in mind, may have organised a home for the horse once they are retired.”  Lee explained.
